Feeling tropical? This Brazilian treat will hit the right spot!

  • 50ml Cachaça
  • 1 lime cut into wedges
  • 1 bar spoon of sugar
  • 10ml gomme syrup

Ordering a caipirinha is about as common as ordering a beer in a Brazilian boteco. Therefore they are whipped up quickly and served without any bells and whistles. If you feel your guests require it, feel free to add a lime wheel or wedge and stainless steel straw.

This drink is shaken and poured (without straining) into a lowball glass.

Add lime wedges to a mixing glass and muddle until the juices are released. Add cachaça, sugar and gomme syrup. Add ice until just over half of your mixing glass. Shake vigorously and pour everything into a lowball glass (aka rocks glass or old fashioned glass).

Note: Cachaça (pronounced as “kah-chah-sah”) is Brazil’s most popular spirit. It is a sugarcane based white rum. If you don’t have any onboard you can substitute with regular rum.
